Kompari

Privacy Policy

Kompari works without an account and keeps your product comparisons on your device. Advertising is provided through Google AdMob, which may process limited device and advertising data.

Section 01Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the Kompari Android application (the “App”) handles information when you use it. In this policy, “Kompari,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the independent developer and publisher of the App.

This policy applies to the App and to messages you send us for support. It does not govern third-party websites, services, advertisements, or apps that you may open from Kompari. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Section 02Information Kompari handles directly

Kompari is designed to work without registration. We do not ask you to provide a name, phone number, account password, payment information, or user profile to use the App’s core comparison features.

Information How it is used Where it is handled
Product names, quantities, prices, and selected units To calculate and display price comparisons Locally on your device; not sent to a Kompari-operated server
App preferences To remember settings such as language, currency, theme, category, unit, tutorial status, and confirmation preferences Stored locally by the App on your device
Support communications To read, respond to, and resolve questions you voluntarily email to us Handled through our email provider and retained as reasonably needed

Important distinction: Kompari does not independently upload your comparison entries to its own servers. However, the third-party advertising SDK described below may transmit advertising and device-related information to Google and participating ad partners.

Section 03Google AdMob and advertising data

Kompari uses Google AdMob to display ads that support the App, since it is free. We also use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage privacy choices where required.

Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, Google’s configuration, and the ad that is served, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:

  • IP address and approximate location inferred from the IP address;
  • device and app information, such as device model, operating system, app identifier, language, and screen characteristics;
  • advertising identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID when available;
  • ad impressions, clicks, interactions, and other ad-performance information;
  • diagnostic, anti-fraud, security, and abuse-prevention information; and
  • consent choices and related privacy signals.

This information may be used to provide ads, limit how often an ad is shown, personalize ads when permitted, measure advertising performance, generate reports, and prevent fraud and abuse. Even when ads are not personalized, some processing may still be necessary to provide basic ads, measure delivery, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

Section 04Your advertising and privacy choices

Consent message and Privacy Settings

In regions where a privacy message is required, Kompari uses Google UMP to present available choices before requesting ads. When Google indicates that a privacy-settings entry point is required, you can reopen it from Kompari → About → Privacy Settings to review or change your choices.

Android and Google controls

You may also manage advertising settings through Android or your Google account. Available controls vary by device, Android version, account status, and region.

Resetting or deleting an advertising identifier, disabling ad personalization, or declining consent does not necessarily remove all advertising. It generally changes how ads are selected and how certain data may be used.

Section 05Privacy rights by region

Privacy rights differ by country and state. Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to the relevant processing, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

Google’s consent message may request permission for storing or accessing information on your device and for collecting, sharing, and using personal data for advertising purposes. You may withdraw or update applicable choices through the App’s Privacy Settings entry point when it is available. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

California and other U.S. states

Kompari does not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws may define certain disclosures for cross-context behavioral advertising as “sharing” or “targeted advertising.” To the extent those laws apply, you may use the App’s Privacy Settings entry point, Google’s ad controls, or contact us to ask about available choices. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Requests concerning Google-held data

We generally cannot access or delete information held independently by Google or another ad technology provider. Requests relating to those providers should be submitted using their own privacy controls or contact channels. You may still email us, and we will explain what options are reasonably available for Kompari.

Section 06Data retention and deletion

  • Comparison entries: processed on your device and not stored on a Kompari-operated server.
  • Local preferences: remain on your device until changed, cleared through Android’s app settings, or removed with the App, subject to Android backup and restore behavior.
  • Support emails: retained only as reasonably necessary to answer your request, maintain support records, protect against abuse, or meet legal obligations.
  • Advertising data: retained according to Google’s and applicable ad partners’ own retention policies.

You can clear Kompari’s locally stored settings from Android’s app-information screen by using the storage/data controls. Doing so may reset App preferences.

Section 07Device access and permissions

Kompari uses internet access to load advertisements and privacy messages. The App does not ask for runtime access to your camera, contacts, precise location, microphone, photos, videos, or general device storage for its core comparison functionality.

Android, Google Play services, and embedded SDKs may use standard system capabilities that do not appear as runtime permission prompts. The permissions and SDKs included in each published version are also reflected in the App’s Google Play listing and Data safety section.

Section 08Security

We minimize the information Kompari handles directly and avoid operating a backend for product comparisons. This reduces, but does not eliminate, privacy and security risk. No device, transmission method, or third-party service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security on your device, including using a supported Android version, installing security updates, and controlling physical access to the device.

Section 09Children’s privacy

Kompari is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or to children below the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly request names, contact details, or accounts from children.

If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support email, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate. Google and its advertising partners maintain their own policies and controls relating to children and age-restricted users.

Section 10International data processing

Google and advertising partners may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Information about Google’s safeguards and processing locations is available in Google’s privacy documentation.

Section 11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Kompari, third-party services, legal requirements, or our privacy practices. The effective and last-updated dates at the top of this page will be revised when the policy changes materially.

When appropriate, we may also provide notice through the App or its store listing. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
